“A Legendary Legacy: Honor. Build. Live.”
The 2016 SGA Homecoming Committee has been working to provide students, alumni, and fans with a week’s worth of fun and exciting events. The week will begin with the 28th Annual Roll Tide Run and conclude with the crowning of the 2016 Homecoming Queen during halftime of the Alabama vs. Kentucky football game. We hope that this year will be full of excitement, spirit, and student participation from the entire campus.
This year’s homecoming theme is an embodiment of the 2016 Executive Committee’s vision for the 2016 homecoming experience. It is our sincerest wish for homecoming to engage The University of Alabama community in a cohesive celebration of the Capstone’s rich traditions. For this reason, the homecoming theme calls on us to honor the legendary legacy of our institution and athletic traditions through honoring our legacy, building upon it with new growth and new ideas, and living the legacy of excellence and The Capstone Creed in everything that we do. We look forward to a week that will embody the true spirit of homecoming, as well as foster relationships with past, present, and future students.
The Executive Committee is striving to foster school spirit and pride by representing the true diversity of our student body. We have made it our mission to increase opportunities for student and alumni involvement in the hopes that every member of the University of Alabama community will embody the values of the University of Alabama. We encourage you to live out our legendary legacy by participating in one or more of our Homecoming Week events.
This website and the 2016 Homecoming Red Book contains the necessary information regarding each event held during Homecoming week. General information, schedules, and rules are included. Student involvement is crucial to each Homecoming event, so please encourage other students and student organizations to participate in as many events as possible.
Please be aware of the requirements, mandatory meetings, and deadlines for each event.
This year we are only offering online registration for events.
During halftime of the Homecoming game, the SGA Homecoming Committee will award the Spirit Cup to the student group that receives the most points during Homecoming week. The Committee will also honor teams of students who exemplify the spirit of Homecoming while participating in individual events throughout the week through our Tide division.
Homecoming Queen Elections will take place via myBama on Tuesday, September 27th from 7am-7pm. All UA students are eligible to vote using their myBama portal. To learn more about our candidates and to see their video platforms, visit the “Homecoming Queen Elections” page! For more information about elections, visit http://vote.ua.edu.
